Jun Yun served our country in the military. Now he’s the general sales manager at Marine Chevrolet in Jacksonville, N.C., where they take pride in helping active-duty military families find the right car or truck.

“Having served goes a long way with the customers and the staff here. Everything is relatable between the customer and the individual helping that customer,” Yun says, a Marine Corps veteran himself.

Jacksonville is the home of the United States Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Jacksonville has a population of 72,876. Camp Lejeune adds an additional 38,778 active-duty residents to the metro area.

Michael Alford, 2022 NADA Chairman and dealer principal, is dedicated to uplifting and empowering the military.

"As a car dealership in this community, we really have the opportunity to be involved in supporting our Marines and sailors and their military dependents. I think it's something that is really unique," Alford says.

He has employed many former service members and dependents over the course of his tenure. In fact, Alford says about 65 percent of his employees are former marines or sailors. The dealership’s website also promises “the best military discount in the nation.”

Yun says this kind of specialty experience is natural for a dealership named after a branch of the military.

“Having walked that path, there’s more of a human side to it rather than a business side to it. And I think the customers sense that,” Yun adds. “Especially coming from a vet … someone who speaks the same language.”
