Not a lot of people know that the automotive industry is a great place for women to work. But Allison Musante certainly does.

While she was still in college, Musante got a job as a receptionist at a Lincoln-Mercury dealership. She moved her way up to bookkeeper, office manager, and eventually sales.

Today, she’s a general manager with Stateline Dodge/Chrysler/Fiat in Charlotte, N.C., and is a leader, mentor and advocate for attracting and recruiting women to the automotive industry. “One of my passions is to enlighten women and help them find a successful career in automotive,” she said in this NADA video.

“I didn’t realize all of the opportunities that were going to be presented to me. I started as a receptionist and I found out very quickly that I could have a career here,” Musante said. “What the dealership truly provides is the opportunity for advancement. And if you want to continue growing, there’s no ceiling for you.”
NADA is committed to empowering the voices of women working in the auto industry like Musante not just in March, but year-round. NADA’s Women Driving Auto Retail initiative was created to amplify the voices of women working in the automotive retail industry, as well as increase female employment in dealerships by providing dealers tools and expertise.

At this week’s NADA Show 2022 in Las Vegas, NADA will announce the grand-prize winner of Women Driving Auto Retail video contest. Now in its fifth year, hundreds of women representing every dealership department and career levels have submitted inspirational videos describing how their auto retail career journey began and why the industry is a great career path for other women.

Check out the videos from the 10 finalists, and find more information including upcoming events by following WDAR on Facebook.
