NADA 2013 Spotlight: Astronaut Mark Kelly to Deliver Inspirational Address

McLEAN, Va. (Jan. 18, 2013) - Inspirational speaker Mark Kelly, a retired combat pilot, astronaut and best-selling author, will address the nation's new-car and -truck dealers next month in Orlando.

In January 2011, Kelly received international attention after an assassination attempt on his wife, former U.S. Rep. Gabby Giffords. In a best-selling memoir, Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope , they share their story of hope and resilience

Kelly, an experienced naval aviator who flew combat missions during the Gulf War, was first selected as an astronaut in 1996 and flew his first four missions in 2001 aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour , which is the same shuttle he commanded on its final flight in May 2011. He has also commanded Space Shuttle Discovery . He is one of only two individuals to visit the International Space Station four separate times.

Kelly is scheduled to speak at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, during the 96th annual NADA Convention and Expo. Following his remarks, he will autograph books in the NADA Pavilion (Booth No. 1801) from 10:40 a.m. to 1 p.m. The first 100 people in line will receive a free copy of the memoir, which will also be available for purchase along with his children's book, Mousetronaut .

The NADA convention runs Feb. 8-11 at the Orange County Convention Center. Advance registration for dealers and managers ends Jan. 31, which is a $75 discount from the onsite registration rate. Discounted hotel rates end Jan. 31 as well. To register, visit www.nada.org/convention
