ADESA to Auction Harley at NADA Convention to Raise Money for Canine Companions

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2013) ADESA, for the second consecutive year, will auction a Harley-Davidson (2011 Fat Boy) during the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention and Expo, held this year in Orlando, Fla. The live auction begins at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10, at the ADESA exhibit (Booth No. 2743).

"Last year's auction was such a success—and we had such a great time doing it—that we are excited to once again host a charity motorcycle auction at this year's NADA convention," said Tom Caruso, ADESA president and CEO. "We are honored to support the NADA Foundation and a wonderful cause like Canine Companions for Independence."

All proceeds will benefit the Frank E. McCarthy Memorial Fund of the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation, which supports Canine Companions for Independence. The auction is not open to the general public.

Last year, Massachusetts new-car dealer Barry Lundgren took home a 2010 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe with a winning bid of $18,750.

Since 2002, the McCarthy Fund has contributed $180,000 to Canine Companions, assisting with the placement of 18 companion dogs for physically disabled children and wounded military veterans. McCarthy served as NADA president for more than 30 years.

The NADA convention runs Feb. 8-11 at the Orange County Convention Center. For more information or to register, visit www.nada.org/convention.
