Since launching on Earth Day, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota, Stellantis, Subaru and VW have joined NADA and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the promotion of the NADA Dealership Energy Use Survey, helping NADA and EPA to develop an ENERGY STAR certification for dealerships. ENERGY STAR provides the tools and road map for dealerships to lower their energy costs and environmental impact by quantifiably reducing their energy and water consumption.

Automakers are joining to support their retail partners and the thousands of dealers who are already working to reduce the environmental impact of their operations and create goodwill in their communities.

“Honda is committed to measurably reducing greenhouse gases and increasing energy efficiency of our Honda and Acura dealers,” said Annika Swenson, Honda Environmental Leadership Program Manager. “As proof of this commitment, Honda supports the NADA Dealership Energy Use Survey as an excellent step to help dealerships reduce their carbon footprint and save money towards their bottom line.”

“Subaru of America is excited to work with NADA to promote the Energy Star Program through our Subaru Eco-Friendly Environment," shared Megan Fleck Subaru Retail Environment Specialist.

“The effort between dealers and vehicle manufacturers demonstrates that reducing the carbon footprint of dealership facilities is achievable, good for business and helps set up dealers for an energy efficient future,” said Jeff Weber, NADA Chairman, Regulatory Affairs Committee.

These automakers have promoted the NADA Dealership Energy Use Survey by reaching out to their dealer networks, including dealers participating in franchise-specific green initiatives, and promoting the upcoming How to Complete the NADA Dealership Energy Use Survey webinar, slated for Thursday, May 13 at 3pm ET.

Once the survey goal is reached, car and truck dealerships across the country may earn the coveted ENERGY STAR certification. Currently more than 5,000 dealers are tracking their energy use through ENERGY STAR’s online tools, but more data is needed!

NADA encourages its members to assist with further enhancing and measuring the energy efficiency of dealerships across the country by participating today! Click here to complete the voluntary survey.
