South Florida’s Rick Baker Elected Chairman of the Automotive Trade Association Executives
LAS VEGAS, Nev. (Feb. 14, 2020)—Today, Rick Baker, president of the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association, was elected 2020 chairman of the Automotive Trade Association Executives (ATAE).
“I am pleased to be serving as the 2020 ATAE chairman and look forward to collaborating with incoming NADA chairman Rhett Ricart during this pivotal time in the automotive retail industry,” said Baker. “ATAE members are plugged into the issues impacting dealers at the metro and state levels and offer resources to preserve dealer interests as the industry evolves.”
The election took place at today’s ATAE winter meeting in Las Vegas, held in conjunction with the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and American Truck Dealers (ATD) Shows.
Baker grew up in Miami, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida State University (FSU) and has pursued master’s level studies at Florida International University (FIU).
After college, Baker joined Trail Dodge, but soon was recruited to join the South Florida dealership group in 1977. In 1986, Baker took the helm as president of the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association. During his time with the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association, he has helped grow the organization and its activities and has worked with more than 900 Florida dealers.
Members of the ATAE, which represents more than 100 state and metro new car and commercial truck dealer associations in the U.S. and Canada, work together on legislative and regulatory challenges facing dealerships and support their respective members with educational and training programs, auto shows, conferences and other business services.
