Jim Polley got his start in the automotive industry selling cars at age 17 in Florida. He came up through the ranks working for JM &A and owning his own dealerships. In 1999, Polley started Vanguard Dealer Services, which quickly became one of the largest and most profitable agents in the U.S. He was the first agent to sell to private equity, starting the trend in agency "blue-sky value" common in the industry today. Today he serves as CEO of Spectrum Automotive Holdings and is the driving force of mergers and acquisitions there, completing more than 30 to date.
