NADA Celebrates Black History Month

As we celebrate the rich legacy and achievements of African Americans during Black History Month, NADA is honored to once again acknowledge its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Through our education programs, diverse partnerships and work within local communities, we are working to ensure that our dealership workforce mirrors the rich mosaic of communities we serve.

Fostering equity in the workplace is not only the right thing to do, but is good for business.

We are keenly aware that equity starts with better jobs and pay parity. That’s why we are committed to educate and train the next generation of skilled auto workers and are working to build an employee work base that represents the vision held by African American civil rights leaders like Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington.

We proudly announced in 2021 that NADA was elected as the exclusive provider of 20 Group services for GM’s Minority Dealer Development (MDD) 20 Groups. We are proud of our work to help minorities move up the ranks into leadership positions at dealerships – from sales and service managers, to general managers and eventually dealers. Local dealerships are a great place for people from all communities to find good paying jobs with opportunities for advancement into management roles.

We also proudly celebrate the entrepreneurial stories of Black auto dealers like Janelle Ross, Peter Boulware, Desmond Roberts, and Damon Lester. We will be releasing videos and blog posts in the coming weeks celebrating those stories.

While always seeking to improve our embracing of diversity, equity and inclusion, auto dealers are on the right path as an industry. Leaning in on matters of DEI requires a long-term commitment and we are here for it. We realize that there is more to be done, but we are gratified that our record to date is a good one.
