Published

McLEAN, Va. (June 26, 2013) Barbara Robinson, director of the American Truck Dealers (ATD), has recently become a Certified Association Executive (CAE), which is the highest professional credential in the association industry.

To be designated as a CAE, an applicant must have a minimum of three years of experience in nonprofit organization management, complete a minimum of 100 hours of specialized professional development, pass a stringent examination in association management and pledge to uphold a code of ethics. To maintain this certification, which less than five percent of all association professionals have earned, individuals must undertake ongoing professional development and activities in association and nonprofit management. The CAE program is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies.

Robinson joined ATD, a division of NADA, in February 2008. She is responsible for working with the ATD Board of Line Representatives to develop overall strategy and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the division. Prior to joining ATD, Robinson worked for Brown's Manassas Hyundai and Volkswagen as the comptroller and Kia Motors as the regional market representation manager. She also spent nearly 20 years at Ford Motor Co. in various marketing and sales positions. She holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from the University of Colorado.
