TYSONS, Va. — The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Board of Directors is pleased to announce Sandy Fitzgerald Angello as its 2027 chairman. Angello, vice president and dealer operator of Pohanka Automotive Group in Salisbury, Maryland, will succeed Rob Cochran, president and CEO of #1 Cochran, in western Pennsylvania and northeastern Ohio.

“I am truly honored to be elected as the next NADA chairman,” said Angello. “Given the current challenges facing the auto retail industry, it’s important that we continue building on our advocacy efforts and delivering results for our Main Street businesses and valued customers. The franchised dealer system has given me the opportunity to build a successful business, create good-paying jobs, and serve my community in many meaningful ways. As NADA chairman, I will fight to ensure that the next generation has those same opportunities.”

Angello’s election marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the second woman to serve as NADA chairman, following Annette Sykora in 2008. With more than four decades of automotive industry experience, Angello began her career at 15 as a receptionist and switchboard operator. She quickly immersed herself in the dealership business, earning the respect of colleagues and bosses and rising to dealer operator. Angello has strategically led the growth of Pohanka Automotive Group of Salisbury, driving expansion growth across several locations. A proud alumna of the University of Maryland and Salisbury University, Angello has represented Maryland’s franchised new-car dealers on the NADA board of directors since 2021.

Jeff Weber, president and general manager of Anderson-Weber Toyota in Dubuque and Toyota of Muscatine, both in Iowa, was elected as NADA vice chairman for 2027. A third-generation dealer, he began his career in the automotive industry in 1999, working at his family dealership as an F&I manager. Weber holds a degree in business administration and a law degree from Creighton University. He has served on the Iowa Auto Dealers Association executive committee since 2013, including as chairman in 2015, and has represented his home state on the National Automobile Dealers Association board of directors since 2018.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as the NADA vice chairman in the coming year,” said Weber. “I take this responsibility seriously, particularly given the challenges facing our industry. I remain committed to supporting NADA’s advocacy efforts for dealers, building on the recent significant public policy successes while addressing the increasing regulatory pressures we face. My focus will also remain on NADA's current customer experience project, which promotes transparency, enhances dealers' reputations, and, most importantly, builds consumer trust. These priorities will help guide NADA’s direction in the years ahead.”

The remaining NADA leadership positions are as follows: Joe Massarelli, president of Liberty Auto City in Libertyville, Illinois, continues as secretary. Kirt Frye, president of Sunnyside Automotive Group in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, was reelected as treasurer.

The election took place at NADA’s board meeting on Oct. 20, 2026. The new terms will begin at the NADA Show 2027 in Orlando, Florida, in February.
