BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (Nov. 13, 2013) Drew Linn, president of Southland International Trucks in Homewood, Ala., was a guest lecturer last month at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.

As the winner of the 2013 Truck Dealer of the Year, an annual award sponsored by the American Truck Dealers (ATD) and Heavy Duty Trucking magazine, Linn was invited to speak to business students about entrepreneurship.

"It was a real privilege to have Drew share his experiences and personal insights with our students," said Joe Denekamp, a senior lecturer at Indiana University.

Linn lectured students at two Venture Growth Management classes, an undergraduate course that covers issues faced by growing businesses. He discussed his professional experiences and the keys to his success, which are "listen, imagine, change and execute."

"Once you learn the keys to success, you will be a winner for life," Linn told the students.

Following his presentation, students were given the opportunity to ask questions.

"I now understand why past winners indicated that their lecturing experience was one of the most rewarding parts of the program," Linn added.

U.S. News & World Report ranked the Kelley School of Business' undergraduate entrepreneurship program No. 1 out of all public universities in the nation for 2013. Indiana University professors have helped select the top dealer for the award over the past 20 years.

Under Linn's leadership, Southland International Trucks has expanded to seven locations, including a body shop, trailer sales and service operation. The dealership has earned numerous industry awards, including Navistar's International Circle of Excellence and Navistar's 2008 International Truck Dealer of the Year.

The 2014 Truck Dealer of the Year will be announced Saturday, Jan. 25, during the 51st annual ATD Convention & Expo in New Orleans, which runs from Jan. 24-27.
