MCLEAN, Va. (Oct. 18, 2006) - Michael J. Stanton, Jr. has been promoted to vice president and chief operating officer of the N.A.D.A. Official Used Car Guide Company (N.A.D.A.), effective October 26.  He replaces Stephen Pugh, who is leaving N.A.D.A. to join a real estate firm.  Scott Lilja, former Guide Company vice president and chief operating officer, remains active as a consultant for the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA).

Stanton will oversee all business operations of the Guide Company, the leading data supplier of market-reflective used vehicle values, serving dealers, manufacturers, financial institutions, insurance companies, government agencies and other entities.  Stanton's appointment marks his return to the N.A.D.A. Official Used Car Guide® Company, where he directed the Guide Company's sales activities as national sales manager from 2000 to 2002.

Currently, Stanton is NADA's executive director of industry affairs, where he works to represent dealer interests to vehicle manufacturers. He is also responsible for NADA's Industry Analysis department and the American Truck Dealers division. Previously, he served as director of industry relations.

Stanton's automotive industry experience spans more than 15 years.  Prior to joining NADA, he worked for Nissan N.A. and American Isuzu Motors in sales, marketing, business management and distribution roles.  In his work for both manufacturers, Stanton coordinated closely with dealers to help improve their sales, parts and service operations.
