Joseph J. Sanchez Memorial Fund

Joseph J. Sanchez overcame many hardships, including childhood polio, to attain a college education and great success in the auto industry. He became vice president and general manager of the Oldsmobile division of General Motors and was the first president of the Saturn Corporation.

To honor the memory of this remarkable man, $7,000 is given annually to pay for students’ emergency needs at each of four accredited private/independent colleges or universities.

Since its inception in 1985, grants worth $586,000 have been presented. Students throughout the country have been given a helping hand by the Fund named for a man who believed so strongly in the importance of higher education.
