Preparing tomorrow’s dealership leaders today

Academy provides programs directed toward current and future operators of automobile and truck dealerships.  These programs feature the latest in industry trends and developments, while also being deeply rooted in the fundamentals needed to operate a successful and profitable automotive business.  Instructors and professors who teach in the Academy programs are among the who’s who in the industry, recognized for their subject-matter-expertise.

The Dealer Candidate Academy (DCA) and related programs are 11-months in duration and include six one-week classroom sessions at NADA followed by 6-8 weeks of in-dealership application and homework between each classroom session.  For department managers, an option is provided to sit-in on a specific week of the Academy program.

Dealership operations and the operator as an entrepreneur – NADA U offers six different programs to choose from:

  1. Dealer Candidate Academy (DCA) is where dealers, dealer successor nominees, and managers are provided in-depth knowledge in all aspects of dealership operations, which equips them with the skills needed to adapt, lead, and succeed in the ever-changing automotive industry.
  2. ATD Truck Dealer Academy closely mirrors the DCA program but also uniquely addresses the operations of a heavy-duty truck dealership.
  3. General Dealership Management Academy (GDM) focuses on operations of the dealership in the General Manager role, emphasizing skills in financial assessment, analysis, and formulation of recommendations.
  4. Dealer Group Academy recognizes the increasing trend toward publicly-owned dealer groups by delivering a customized version of the GDM program that also encompasses the unique policies, procedures, and needs of a specific dealer group.
  5. Department Manager Program enables dealership department managers (e.g. Controller, Parts, Service, Sales managers) to engage in the Academy for an individual week of study.  Department managers participate in the full rigorous program, including pre-and post in-dealership requirements, while attending with the Academy students.  This program is an alternative to the Learning Hub seminar program which typically consists solely of department managers.

The sixth program is an Executive Education experience conducted over 12 months and focused on the continuous learning, innovation, and leadership demanded of successful entrepreneurs – all within the context of the automotive industry.

6. Dealer Executive Education at Babson College is an industry-unique program for automotive entrepreneurs.  Taught by faculty of Babson’s top-rated business school, and conducted on their campus in Wellesley, Mass.
