The Award

Nominees for the 2008 TIME Dealer of the Year Award
take the stage at NADA's annual Convention
& Exposition in San Francisco.

Nomination

Dealers are nominated by either state or metro associations of franchised new-car dealers, which are members of the Automotive Trade Association Executives. (Please fill out a Nomination Form if you wish to nominate someone). A panel composed of faculty from the University of Michigan Graduate School of Business Administration chooses five TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year finalists from each of the four NADA regions. Once the judges have selected the regional finalists, they choose four regional winners who will be named the TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year. In appreciation for this service TIME and Goodyear have established an annual scholarship at the school in the name of TIME, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, NADA and the Dealer of the Year nominees.

Notification

Finalists and the TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year are not notified of their additional honor until the afternoon awards ceremony at the NADA convention.

Publicity

All Dealer of the Year nominees will receive both national and local publicity. They will be included, along with their pictures, in a special announcement in the issue of TIME distributed at the NADA annual convention, and will have a press picture taken at the TIME/Goodyear brunch. Additionally, publicity will be provided to each dealer's appropriate local media. (Please complete a Media Publicity Form attached to the Official Entry Form available on TIME's Web site.)

In addition, each finalist will be featured in a special TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year advertisement in a subsequent issue of TIME mailed to subscribers in the finalists's home state. This salute will appear on a "space available" basis, usually during the summer. The finalists and their sponsoring associations will be notified of the issue date in advance. Each finalist will also receive a kit to promote his or her award.
