TIME Magazine's Dealer of the Year Award
TIME Magazine's Dealer of the Year Award is one of the most prestigious awards a new-car dealer can receive. TIME Magazine, in association with The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. and in cooperation with the National Automobile Dealers Association, proudly names the Dealer of the Year at NADA's annual Convention & Exposition.
The Dealer of the Year award: calls attention to new-car dealers in America who exhibit exceptional performance in their dealerships, combined with distinguished community service; creates a positive public relations forum for all new-car dealers; and provides a representative spokesperson for Dealer of the Year.
| George P. Fritze, owner of Red River Motor Co. in Bossier City, La., was named the 2009 TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year. Fritze, 52, was chosen to represent the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association (LADA) in the national competition. For decades, Fritze has been deeply involved in countless civic and community organizations, such as: the American Heart Association, Red Cross, Bossier Arts Council, Boy Scouts, Louisiana State Fair, Louisiana State University’s (LSU) Tiger Athletic Foundation, Junior Achievement and United Way. But he considers his work to raise $7 million to build the Sutton Children’s Medical Center in Shreveport his most meaningful accomplishment, saying, “I was very proud to help bring this world-class level of care to our city.” |

| Tracy Shields Jones, 2007 TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year, is a third-generation dealer who as a child would watch her grandfather and father and say, “I want to be just like them.” Ironically, her father tried to discourage her from entering the automobile business. But after she graduated from the University of Alabama and became a CPA, her father hired her as a comptroller for his Huntsville dealership. After her father’s retirement in 1993, she became president of the company. |
