NADA Energy Star Partnership: Recognition for Reductions

The greatest benefit to cutting your dealership’s energy usage appears every day in the savings you generate by using less. But there are other perks, too. One of those is getting the recognition you deserve. As part of the NADA Energy Star challenge, if you cut 10 percent or more, we want you to be recognized.

What you’ll receive:

• A certificate of achievement from NADA and Energy Star
• A press release for your local media
• Coverage on www.nada.org
• Recognition at NADA’s Washington Conference in September.

How to be recognized:

• E-mail RegulatoryAffairs@nada.org by Friday, August 1 with the following information: Your name, the name of your dealership, and your approximate energy savings since January 1, 2007 (20 percent? 30 percent? More?)
• Share your data with us through Energy Star’s Portfolio Manager*. You can do this by clicking on “Share Facilities” under “Work with Facilities” on the main page of your account. Choose the third box and scroll down to “National Automobile Dealers Association MASTER ACCOUNT.” Continue on to choose the level of access you desire.

* If you have not yet set up an account in Portfolio Manager, it’s easy to do so. Simply click here and select “register” in the login window. If you need more help, Energy Star is offering Webinars on Portfolio Manager on Wednesday, July 30, and Friday, August 1 at 11:30 AM, Eastern time. Sign up for “NADA Members – Tools for Energy Tracking and Benchmarking” by going to http://energystar.webex.com/training.

Background

ENERGY STAR programIn January 2007, NADA and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Energy Star Program jointly announced an Energy Stewardship Initiative to help improve the energy efficiency of dealership facilities and operations.
This initiative offers data, tools, and strategies to help dealerships implement a variety of cost-effective retrofit and new construction strategies involving energy-efficient lighting, climate controls, equipment, and building design as well as improved energy practices and technologies.  It builds on the jointly developed A Dealer Guide to Energy Star: Putting Energy into Profits, available online from NADA's Management Education Catalog.
The Energy Stewardship Initiative challenges dealerships to achieve energy savings of at least 10 percent annually by using the data, documents, and tools found at www.energystar.gov/autodealers. The Initiative will recognize dealerships that achieve significant annual energy savings.
