Paul C. Taylor, Ph.D., is Chief Economist of the National Automobile Dealers Association's Industry Analysis, where he oversees NADA’s industry analysis activities, which include research on a wide range of factors impacting the retail automotive industry and publishing NADA’s annual compilation of facts and figures, titled NADA DATA. He will also serve as spokesperson for the association on economic and business issues.

Before joining NADA in 1999, Taylor served as senior economist for America’s Community Bankers. Prior to that, he was senior economist for the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress. Taylor headed the Fiscal Policy Council and was a Senior Financial Analyst at the U.S. International Trade Commission.

Taylor earned his bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and holds a master’s and doctoral degrees in economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In 1981, he completed his doctoral dissertation under the guidance of James Buchanan, the 1986 Nobel Laureate in economics.

Dr. Taylor enjoys a family history in the retail auto industry, as his grandfather was a long-time Ford and American Motors dealer in Warrenton, Virginia.
