James H. Westlake

James H. Westlake is executive director of NADA's American Truck Dealers Division, which represents the interests of more than 2,000 medium- and heavy-duty truck dealers. His responsibilities include legislative initiatives, government relations, industry relations, membership, education and ATD consulting services and management of an annual convention and equipment exposition.

Prior to joining NADA, he was employed by Northern Virginia Community College as an instructor and laboratory supervisor. Westlake came to NADA in 1978 as a field consultant and was then manager of NADA's Training Services department. He held positions with NADA's Dealership Operations Group before becoming associate director of ATD in 1982, a position he held until his promotion to director in 1986.

Westlake earned a bachelor's degree from the American University in Washington, D.C., and an A.A.S. from Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, Va.

Founded in 1970, the ATD division of NADA is the only national organization representing dealers selling new medium- and heavy-duty trucks. The more than 2,400 members of ATD receive full association services from NADA.

The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, Va., represents more than 20,000 new car and truck dealers, holding over 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
