George E. Nahas, president of George Nahas Chevrolet, Wildwood, Fla., represents Florida’s franchised new-car dealers on the National Automobile Dealers Association’s board of directors.

A new-car dealer and a member of NADA since 1977, Nahas currently serves as NADA treasurer and chairman of the association’s Finance Committee. He also serves on the Convention Committee. Previously, he served on the Dealership Operations, Government Relations and Membership committees. He is past chairman of the Oldsmobile National Dealer Council and served on the GM National Dealer Council, GM Southeastern Dealer Council and Oldsmobile Scramble National Advisory Board. He is a past president and past chairman of the Legislative & Legal Committee of the Florida Automobile Dealers Association and currently serves as an ex-officio director. Nahas is president and director of the Central Florida Auto Dealers Association and Chairman of its Auto Show and Legislative Committee.

Previously, Nahas served on the GM Fixed Operations Advisory Board, National Oldsmobile Business Advisory Board, National Oldsmobile Board of Governance, Oldsmobile Regional Dealer Council, and the Greater Orlando Oldsmobile Dealers and Central Florida Oldsmobile Dealers councils. He was a member of the advisory boards for the Greater Richmond and Greater Memphis Auto Shows and the GM Training Center.

Active in his community, Nahas is currently president and director of the Florida Citrus Sports Association and a director of the Epilepsy Association of Central Florida.  He is a member of St. James Cathedral and the Eustis Rotary Club. Formerly, Nahas was a director of the First Union National Bank, Crimeline of Central Florida, Mid-Florida Economic Development Commission, Central Florida Amateur Sports Association, Northern Illinois University Athletic Association; Co-chairman of Keep Florida Beautiful; member of United States Olympic Organizing Committee; and a judge of Miss Florida Citrus Pageant.

In 1988, Nahas was a recipient of the TIME Magazine Quality Dealer Award, and a finalist in 1994 and in 2002 as the TIME Magazine Quality Dealer of the Year. This award is sponsored by TIME, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and NADA to honor professional excellence and community leadership. He has received other honors including the Northwood University Dealer Education Award, the Oldsmobile Citation Service Award of Merit, the Oldsmobile Customer Satisfaction Award, Eustis High School – Distinguished Education Donor Award, University of Central Florida - President’s Award, Epilepsy Association of Central Florida - Special Achievement Award, Florida Citrus Sports Association - Howard L. Palmer Award, Northern Illinois University – Finalist for Distinguished Alumni Award, and was an All American Football Foundation Inductee in 1998.

Nahas received a B.S. at Northern Illinois University and a J.D. at DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Ill.
