W. Carroll Smith, president of Monument Chevrolet of Pasadena, Texas, represents South Texas' franchised new-car dealers on the National Automobile Dealers Association's board of directors.
Smith has been an automobile dealer and a member of NADA since 1974. From 1991 through 1997, he was director of the Texas Automobile Dealers Association, director and chairman of the Houston Automobile Dealers Association and president of the Houston Chevrolet Ad Group and the Chevrolet First Team. In addition, Smith has held various positions on the Chevrolet Dealer Council.
Active in his community, Smith participates in various organizations in the Houston area. He has held the position of treasurer for his local Boy Scout troop and chairman of the Salvation Army and of the YMCA. He has also served on the board of directors of the Greater Houston Partnership. In 1994, in honor of his community contributions, the city of Pasadena named April 1 Carroll Smith Day. In 2009, he was honored as the School District’s “Distinguished Citizen” for 2009 for his involvement with education in the public schools.
Smith served six years with the U.S. Army National Guard. He earned a bachelor's degree in industrial management from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga.
He and his wife Lynne reside in Houston, Texas. Their older son, W.C., is Sales Manager of Monument Chevrolet in Pasadena, Texas, and their younger son, Brandon, is currently a co-manager of the Commercial Division of Monument Chevrolet.
