Raymond "Ray" Scarpelli, president of Raymond Chevrolet & Olds, Inc., Antioch, Ill., represents that state’s franchised new-car dealers on the National Automobile Dealers Association’s board of directors.

Scarpelli became a member of NADA in 1970. He is currently on the association’s Dealership Operations and the Public Affairs committees. Previously, Scarpelli was on the association’s Membership Committee and served as: a member of the Chevrolet Regional Dealer Council in 1984; president of the Oldsmobile Dealers Association in 1987; president of the Chevrolet Dealer Association in 1992; director of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association from 1990 through 1999; and that association’s chairman in 1997.

Active in his community, Scarpelli serves on the Illinois Secretary of State Dealer Advisory Board, the Illinois Attorney General Advisory Board and the Antioch Lions Club.

Scarpelli received the Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award in 1998, which is sponsored by Time, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. and NADA to honor professional excellence and community leadership.

Scarpelli currently lives in Antioch, Ill., with his wife Carol. They have three children. Two of his sons Ray, Jr. and Mark are involved in Scarpelli’s dealerships.

His hobbies include boating, golf and tennis.

The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, Va., represents more than 20,000 new car and truck dealers, holding over 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
