Desmond A. Roberts, president of Advantage Chevrolet, Hodgkins, Ill., is an at-large member of the National Automobile Dealers Association’s board of directors.
Roberts became a franchised new-vehicle dealer in 1988. He started his career in auto retailing in 1986 as a member of General Motors’ dealer training program in Columbus, Ohio. Roberts also serves as director of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association. Previously, he served as chairman of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers from 2007 to 2010 and president of the General Motors Minority Dealers Association from 2005 to 2007.
Active in his community, Roberts has served as chief financial officer for the Make a Difference Youth Foundation and is an ongoing sponsor of the Spina Bifida Association of Illinois.
In 2005 and 2006, Roberts was named a GM “Dealer of the Year” and honored with a Jack Smith Leadership Award. He lives in Indian Head Park, Ill.
