Jack R. Leigh, president of Leigh Automotive, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., represents that state’s franchised new-car dealers on the association’s board of directors.
Leigh began his career in the automobile industry in 1971, working in his father’s Buick dealership. In 1986, Leigh purchased the controlling interest in the dealership from his father, and in 1981, he added a Mercedes franchise. He is currently on the National Automobile Dealers Association’s Convention and Public Affairs committees. He is also chairman of Mercedes Benz on the Industry Relations Committee. Previously, Leigh served as chairman of the Alabama Automobile Dealers Association. He was a district representative on the Buick Zone Council and served as chairman of the Alabama Buick Advertising Group.
Active in his community, Leigh was a board member of the West Alabama Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as president of the West Alabama Art Association and was chairman of the Heart Association of West Alabama. In recognition of his civic contributions, Leigh served on the President’s Council of the University of Alabama and was awarded the Business Patron of the Arts award in 1990 by the Arts Council of Tuscaloosa.
The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, VA, represents more than 20,000 new car and truck dealers, holding over 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
