Tom Johnson, president of The Johnson Motors Corp., Safford, Arizona, represents Arizona’s franchised new-car dealers on the association’s board of directors.

A new car dealer and a member of NADA since 1976, Johnson is currently the association’s chairman of Nissan on the Industry Relations Committee and a board member of the Regulatory Affairs Committee. Previously, he served as director for the Arizona Automobile Dealers Association from 1981 through 1984, 1990 through 1993, and 1996 through 2002. He has won another term through 2005.

In government and military sectors, Johnson currently is serving in the Arizona Governor’s Small Business Advocate Executive Council, and served earlier in the Minnesota National Guard.

Active in his community, Johnson served as president of the Graham County Chamber of Commerce and is currently a member. He is also a member of the Governing Board of the Mount Graham Regional Medical Center.

Johnson has received numerous awards. He was awarded the Small Business of the Year Award by the Graham County Chamber of Commerce in 2000 and the Honorary Chapter Farmer Award by the Future Farmers of America (FFA).

Johnson resides in Safford, Arizona, with his wife, Becky, and five children, including one whom is general manager at his dealership. Johnson’s hobbies include golf, fishing, hunting and camping.

The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, Va.A, represents more than 20,000 new car and truck dealers, holding over 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
