Board of Directors — Maryland
Joseph F. (Tad) Hinder Jr., president of Hinders Lincoln-Mercury-Isuzu in Bel Air, Md., and Hinder Motors Inc. in Aberdeen, Md., represents that state’s franchised new-car dealers on the association’s board of directors.
Hinder began his career in the automobile industry in 1966, working in his family’s dealership. In 1972, he purchased the controlling interest in the dealership from his father. Active within the industry, Hinder has served as treasurer of the Bel Air New Car Dealers, and as vice president and treasurer of the Maryland New Car & Truck Dealers Association. He also has served on the Lincoln Mercury and Isuzu national dealer councils.
Active in his community, Hinder is involved in the local Kiwanis club, the Upper Chesapeake Health Systems Foundation and the Greater Harford Committee. He previously served on the Harford County Economic Development Committee
Hinder earned a B.S. in business from Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Md.
The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, Va., represents more than 20,000 new car and truck dealers, holding over 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
