Gene W. Smith Jr., president Gene Smith Inc., Elk City, Okla., represents that state’s franchised new-car dealers on the National Automobile Dealers Association’s board of directors.
An automobile dealer and member of NADA since 1981, Smith previously served two terms as the chairman of the Oklahoma Automobile Dealers Association from 2000-2002.
Active in his community, Smith has served on the Great Plains Regional Medical Center Board of Directors since 1988.
He served five years in the U.S. Air Force, receiving several medals for service in the Vietnam and Korea wars. In 1980, Smith was named “Boss of the Year” by the Elk City Jaycees, and in 1997 he received the “President’s Award” from the OADA.
Smith earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Oklahoma in 1966.
