Board of Directors — Maine
Charles R. Gaunce, president and owner of Central Maine Motors Auto Group, Waterville, Maine, represents that state’s franchised new-car dealers on the association’s board of directors.
A dealer since 1962, Gaunce is also director of the Maine Auto Dealers Association. Previously, he served as the state association’s chairperson. He has also served as a trustee on MADA’s Workers Compensation Board since 1997.
Active in his community, Gaunce is a trustee on the Inland ospital Board, and has previously served as chairperson. He is also very active in the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, having served as chairperson, director and on its executive committee. He serves as vice president of the Kennebec Regional Development Authority, and has held various offices with the Waterville Rotary Club.
Gaunce has received several awards for his service to the automobile industry and his community. He is a Toyota Presidents Award dealer and a former Pontiac Master dealer. In 1999 and 2001, Gaunce received distinguished service awards for improvement of his community. In 1994, he was named Business Person of the Year. In 2004, he received the Elias A. Joseph Award in recognition of his volunteer service to the Chamber of Commerce.
Gaunce lives in Waterville with his wife, Nancy. He has three children and he enjoys skiing, bicycling, and hiking.
