Peter Barry, president of Barry Automotive, Newport, R.I., represents that state’s franchised new-car dealers on the National Automobile Dealers Association.
Barry became a franchised dealer in 1988. He is currently on the association’s Government Relations and Membership committees. Previously, Barry was president, vice president and secretary of the Rhode Island Auto Dealers Association (RIADA). He was also president of the Rhode Island Auto Workers Compensation Company.
Active in the community, Barry was vice president of the Jewish Federation of Rhode Island and a member of the Child and Family Services.
He also served in the legal council of the Rhode Island Senate.
Barry received the Rhode Island Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award from RIADA.
His hobbies include golf, daily workouts and raising money for Make-A-Wish foundation.
The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, VA, represents more than 20,000 new car and truck dealers, holding over 43,000 separate franchises, both domestic and import.
