Donald P. Hicks, president of Shortline Auto Group, in Aurora, Colo., is an at-large member of the National Automobile Dealers Association.
Hicks became a franchise dealer in 1987. He began his career in auto retailing in 1972 selling cars at Courtesy Ford in Littleton, Colo. He currently serves on the association’s Government Relations, Industry Relations, and Convention committees. Hicks previously served as the Subaru representative on NADA's Industry Relations Committee. He served as chairman of the Metro Denver Automobile Dealers Association from 2005 to 2007 and is currently the secretary of the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association and serves on the association's Legislative Policy Committee. Hicks also served as the Chairman of the American International Automobile Dealers Association.
Active in his community, Hicks has been the charter sponsor of The Pink Ribbon Foundation, a non-profit organization serving cancer patients in Colorado, since 2001. He is also a sponsor of the Lewis and Floorwax Kids Foundation as well as the LET's Hope Foundation dedicated to serving financially challenged cancer patients.
In 2008, Hicks was a finalist for the TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year award. He lives in Denver with his wife, Laurie and enjoys competitive water skiing, snow skiing and traveling. Their daughter Nikki, with husband Steve, are raising the Hicks' 2 grandchildren, Ella and Canaan.
