McLean, Va., January 5, 2005 — David Hyatt has been promoted to chief operating officer of public affairs at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA). He will oversee strategic communications, including public and media relations.
Hyatt's background is in media and public policy. He was a foreign correspondent for Voice of America broadcast news. As bureau chief in Bangkok, Thailand, and foreign editor in London, Hyatt traveled extensively on news assignments throughout Asia, Africa and Europe. His coverage in Southeast Asia led to a nomination for the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award of Excellence.
Hyatt was recently named Honorary Member for Life by the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand for his work in promoting press freedom during two terms as president.
Before joining NADA in 1999 as executive director of public affairs, he was chief lobbyist and senior PR counsel representing real estate interests in Virginia.
NADA’s Public Affairs Group is also responsible for government affairs communications, as well as online and print publications, including NADA’s award-winning AutoExec.
The National Automobile Dealers Association, founded in 1917 and based in McLean, Va., represents more than 20,000 franchised new car and truck dealers holding nearly 43,000 separate franchises, domestic and international.
