Responding to the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the Foundation, working with the National Automobile Dealers Association, created a fund to assist the families of victims.
Once the Foundation helped meet the immediate needs with grants of nearly $700,000, the balance of over $1 million was used to establish the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation Survivors Relief Fund under the auspices of Scholarship America to help meet the long-term educational needs of the victims’ dependents, be it to attend a college or a technical, vocational or professional school in the United States.
The fund has already provided $527,700 in scholarship aid to 87 students from the greater New York City and Washington, D.C. areas.
The organizations receiving Survivors Relief Fund contributions to date include:
