Commitment to Community: New Orleans Lusher Charter School Project
As part of the upcoming convention's "Commitment to Community" theme, the National Auto Dealers Charitable Foundation is accepting donations to help restore the athletic fields at Lusher Charter School, the largest public high school in New Orleans. The school is still trying to recover from damage sustained by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Donation information is coming soon!

| To kick off the campaign, the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation made a $400,000 contribution to the Brees Dream Foundation in May. Founded by New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife, the Brees Dream Foundation is involved in many aspects of the city's recovery, including renovation of the school's fields. Established in 1975, the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation (NADCF) is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization that raises funds from franchised new-car and -truck dealers and friends and donates them to emergency medical and economic educational organizations and private-sector colleges and universities. For over 30 years, through the NADA Foundation, new-car and -truck dealers have contributed nearly $10 million to communities throughout the nation in such ways as:
- Saved lives by donating CPR manikins to train more than 2 million people in lifesaving techniques;
- Supported ethics programs at colleges and universities with the distribution of grants;
- Provided emergency relief to dealership employees victimized by hurricanes, floods and other natural disasters;
- Promoted financial literacy with grants to worthy organizations throughout the country;
- Helped alleviate students' financial hardships by donating to college emergency funds;
- Ensured personal mobility by supporting organizations such as Canine Companions for Independence; and
- Aided 9/11 survivors with $1.7 million in donations.
