Frank E. McCarthy |
Frank E. McCarthy served as chief operating officer of NADA for more than three decades, and his death in 2001 shocked and saddened the entire auto industry. Following an outpouring of condolences and financial gifts in remembrance of this outstanding man, NADCF created the Frank E. McCarthy Memorial Fund in his honor. Tribute to Frank McCarthy
After consulting with the McCarthy family and considering various proposals, the board of trustees decided to disburse grants to the five regions of Canine Companions for Independence, which trains service dogs to assist people with physical disabilities other than blindness. Each $10,000 grant offsets the cost of training of a service dog and placement with a person who needs the assistance. The grants began with the Northeast region and will continue across the country, then back again, and so forth.
